Abstract. The influence of conservation tillage (no-tillage with mulching) on contents of mineral components in soil and parsley roots was investigated. No-tillage cultivation system did not have a significant influence on mineral contents in soil. The effect of mulching was dependent on kind of cover crops.

Influence of conservation tillage on contents of mineral components In soil and parsley roots

Summary

Field experiment was carried out in the years 1999-2000 on the lessive soil with parsley cv.’Berlińska’ cultivation. The effect of conservation tillage (no-tillage cultivation system and cover crop mulches: Sinapis alba, Vicia sativa, Phacelia tanacetifolia, Avena sativa) on contents of some mineral components in soil and parsley roots was investigated. No-tillage cultivation system did not have a significant influence on mineral contents in soil. White mustard and spring vetch mulches had a positive influence on contents of N and K in soil. Direct sowing decreased contents of K, Mg, N-total, N-NO3 in parsley roots comparison to conventional tillage. Under mulching with spring vetch N-total, N-NO3 and Mg contents in parsley roots were the highest of all objects. The significant higher content of K in roots was found after white mustard mulch.
